If I'm overseas, can I transfer my esim to another device if I lose my phone?

I'm a fairly experienced international traveler on the Verizon Unlimited Ultimate plan but always have this fear of having my phone stolen or I lose or damage it while out of the country. I've heard different opinions on this, but though for sure Redditors will know the answer.
